While the New Year’s and Christmas celebrations might be over, but that doesn’t mean that we must wait until spring to enjoy the perfect holiday or vacation. Winter is still a wonderful opportunity to escape and with Valentine’s Day coming up, this is a good time to plan an unforgettable romantic getaway or even a small group enjoying a night out. I do not know about you but when I imagine winter getaways, an occasion, I think of mountains, sipping hot chocolate in front of a gorgeous warm fire (or champaign, but you are getting the idea.) Relaxing in the cozy log cabin looking out and watching skiers leave the lift and glide through the air. Yes, I think you’re thinking (I do not ski or have the desire)–from snow tubing to renting the snowmobile, or going ice fishing, there are a variety of exciting activities outdoors that are suitable for all. If you’re not a fan of the outdoors, or it’s not something you enjoy, then choose to do indoor activities like spas, art galleries fitness and indoor rock climbing, eating out, lounges, and restaurants or even an indoor pool. With a lot activities to enjoy, you might be inclined to consider a trip at one of these destinations even if aren’t a skier. Here’s some inspiration to help you plan your winter vacation.
Aspen Colorado
The song’s lyrics “Rocky Mountain High” was in response to John Denver’s experiences in Aspen. In the mountains of the Rocky Mountains, Aspen has four different ski areas that cover more than 5500 sq. feet. This is why it’s known as a skier’s goal. It’s among the nation’s most popular destinations. But, there’s plenty to do for those who love skiing.
Lake Tahoe – Neveda and California
It is a Sierra Nevada mountain resort is located in one of the biggest Alpine lakes of North America. It is a stunning landscape throughout the year, but winter is the ideal season to explore all that Lake Tahoe offers even for those who are not skiers. For more breathtaking views, consider a helicopter ride over the lake. Cross-country skiing, or snowshoe hiking are a great alternative to the crowds and avoid sliding face-to-face down the mountain.
Stowe Vermont
This is where you can experience the classic ski experience with a slight twist. Mt. Mansfield has the most summits mountain in the state. If you’re not a skier There is a wide range of things to do. Try your hands at ice skating or dog sledding. While there, take a look around Stowe the town itself, which is where you can find charming galleries, boutiques, and museums. And, of obviously, you cannot come to Stowe without a trip to the Ben and Jerry’s factory.
Omni Mount Washington Resort – Mt. Washington Valley, New Hampshire
Bretton Woods, New Hampshire. The resort was named the top Ski area in the East Coast by Conde Nast Traveler and has been visited by celebrities as well as presidents. With a wide range of options, including relaxing in Spa, ziplining and much more, you’ll probably not want to go out in the skies.
